Robert William Shook

Our dearest Robert “Robbie” William Shook, 44, of Goldsboro, went home to be with his Savior on June 23, 2026. Robbie was born on June 03, 1982, in Iredell County to the late Stanley Dwayne Shook and Carla Kilby Smith. Robbie loved Nicholas Sparks Novels and was happiest sitting on the beach in Wilmington. He loved with his whole heart and would have given you the shirt off his back, and did so many times. He never met a stranger and always saw the good in everyone. He had a knack for making friends. To know Robbie was to love Robbie. By looking at him, you wouldn’t know he had such a kind heart and a love for all God’s creatures and critters. He was always himself wherever he went; he never tried to be something he wasn’t. He was goofy and could make you laugh at any given moment. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was persistent in every area of his life; if he wanted something, he went after it. Robbie thrived when he was working out at the gym. He enjoyed cooking and all things food. He was a beast with a chainsaw and loved his job as a landscaper. He liked his hats and always dressed his best, taking special pride in a good pair of clean shoes and his beautiful blue eyes. His heart’s most treasured gift was found in his three children, and he loved being their dad. Robbie loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, and with his “Nicholas Sparks love,” Michelle Gooding. He finished well and was stronger than ever. He loved the Lord and wanted everyone to know about him. In addition to his father, Robbie was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Letha Shook; his maternal grandparents, William and Mary Kilby; and one uncle, Edward Shook. Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Carla Smith, and stepfather Jason, three children, Elijah, Jacob, and Lydia Shook. The love of his life, Michelle Gooding, and her son; three sisters, Brandy Haigler (Jason), Ashley Rogers (Jared), and Misty Trantham (Ryan); Angie Montieth, Christie Hutton, and Uncle Jimmy Shook. His niece Abagail Hoglen and nephew Vann Rogers; his cousins Jason Shook, April Wyatt, Matt Shook, Deanna Presnell, Makayla Montieth, Josh Montieth, Fletcher and Taylor, and numerous more family, friends, and work buddies. Luke 15:4–5 "Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?
