Nina Gibbs Cline

Nina Gibbs Cline, age 75, of Stony Point, passed away Tuesday October 30, 2012 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, with her family by her side. Nina was born September 21, 1937 in Albemarle to the late Rev. James S. Gibbs and Grace Bradley Gibbs. Rev. Gibbs was a Methodist minister for 45 years in the Western Carolina conference, and as such he and his family moved frequently, with Nina attending a number of different elementary and high schools in the Piedmont region. She graduated from Gastonia High School in 1955, and was a graduate of Pfeiffer University with degrees in Psychology and Sociology. In 1959 she met and married Danny Kenneth Cline and soon moved to San Diego CA when Danny joined the Navy. In 1962 they moved to Pinellas Park, FL where their first son Kenneth was born in 1965. Later, they relocated back to NC where their second son Gregory was born in 1967. After living in NC and Michigan, they settled in Joppatowne, MD, where she worked as a travel agent. She spent many hours cruising the Chesapeake, with her family, in their boat. After retiring, Nina and Danny returned to live in the home her grandfather Bradley built in Stony Point. She was an active member of the Stony Point United Methodist Church, and her interests included family, politics, travel, and reading. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James S. Gibbs Jr. Mrs. Cline is survived by her husband of 53 years, Danny K. Cline; two sons and their spouses, Kenneth and Vicki Cline, Gregory E. Cline and Dr. Angela M. Jansen PhD, and one grandchild Angelo Cline (son of Ken and Vicki); one brother Rev. Philip H. Gibbs and wife Sue J. Gibbs; four nephews; three nieces; six grandnephews; seven grandnieces. A memorial service will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday November 4, 2012 at Stony Point United Methodist Church, 311 Ruritan Road, Stony Point, NC 28678. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall at the church. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be sent to the Stony Point Methodist Church, PO Box 120, Stony Point, NC 28678 designated for the Preservation Trust Fund. This is a new fund, dedicated to Nina’s Memory.
