Grace Hendren Oliver Lackey Stout

Grace Hendren Oliver Lackey Stout, 91, of Stony Point, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 17, after a brief illness. Daughter of the late Vance and Grace Oliver, she was preceded in death by her husband Oren Lee Stout, and her first husband Dale Alexander Lackey. Also preceding her in death was a brother Sidney Neil Oliver and wife Catherine Perkins Oliver. She is survived by her five children, Stephen Dale Lackey (Sherry) of Statesville, Shirley S. Lackey (Steve), Allison S. Houchins (Chuck), Melanie S. Passmore (Jack), and Wayne Preston Stout, all of Mountain View Farm where Mrs. Stout resided since 1948, upon her marriage to Oren Stout. Her surviving brothers are Mack (Libby) Oliver, Rex (Wilma) Oliver, and Don (Betty) Oliver. She was a homemaker and farm wife and assisted in the operation of Mountain View Farm’s poultry and dairy business since 1948. She was active and a life-long member of Stony Point Baptist Church, the Grange, Farm Bureau, Extension Homemakers Club, and served as a 4-H leader in the Scotts community. In 1992, Oren received the Iredell Farmer of the Year, which was invaluably supported by Mrs. Stout, as they were well respected members of the agricultural community. She provided care for multiple members of her family throughout the years. She and husband Oren were privileged to travel throughout the United States and abroad, visiting dairy operations in many countries. She is survived by grandchildren Kimberly L. Johns, Kellye Lackey, Christi L. Julsrud (Joe), Bethany Lackey, Amy Lackey, Brenna H. Pence (Matthew), Daphne H. Jensen (Michael), Elissa Houchins, Alan Coley (Tuesday Adams), and step-grandchildren Joey Passmore and Monica Ledford. Great-grandchildren include Weylin Johns, Ian Julsrud, Chevy Coley, Allie Grace Pence, and Wyatt Jensen. Step great-grandchildren include Heaven, Holly, and Lucas McLear, and Dustin and Kirsten Passmore. Special close associations are Donna Johnson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Services are planned for Mrs. Stout on Sunday, September 20, 2015, at 4:00 p.m. at Stony Point Baptist Church, with Rev. Phil Addison, Rev. Rick Norman, and Rev. Mitch King ministering. Burial will follow immediately in the church cemetery. The receiving of family and friends will take place from 2:00 until 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Building Fund of Stony Point Baptist Church, 231 Ruritan Park Rd. Stony Point, NC 28678. Pallbearers for Mrs. Stout include Brownie Rufty, Benny Johnson, Randy Clanton, Steven and Rodney Oliver, Mark Oliver, and Allen Oliver.
