Walter Sidney Watt, age 83, of Linda Lane, Stony Point, passed away, Saturday September 26, 2009 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 29,1926 in Alexander County, to the late Henry Clay Watt and Louie Gaier Watt. Mr. Watt served in the U.S.ARMY-AIR FORCE in WWII. He was a driver for over 20 yrs. for Johnson Bros of HICKORY. He retired after 10 years from Shurtape Technology of Stony Point, was also of the Methodist faith and a life long resident of Stony Point. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Norman and Thomas Watt, two half-brothers Fred and Leonard Jarrett and two half-sisters Helen and Josie. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Gloria Kopchinski Watt; one son, Lonnie Watt and wife Mary Lynn of Taylorsville; one daughter, Darlene Watt Hiekel and husband Rodney of Mocksville; one step-son, Joey Nienczyk of Stony Point; one step-daughter, Cecilia Wankel and husband Steve of Catawba; one brother-in-law, Robert Kopchinski of the home; four grandchildren, Angela H. Romesburg, Carla W. Barnes, Robert Hiekel, Ryan Watt; two step-grandsons Joseph and Alex of Stony Point; and four great grandchildren, Tyler Romesburg, Jacob Romesburg, Macey Barnes, and Alex Barnes. Memorial services will be conducted 2:00pm Saturday October 3, 2009 at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Deval Mason will officiate. Military Rites will be provided by Hiddenite Post # 10,000 and Taylorsville Post # 5466. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm at Chapman Funeral Home prior to the service.
