Ruth Patra Bruce Tilley

February 22, 1911 - February 4, 2009

Ruth Patra Bruce Tilley, 97, of 372 Bruce Farm Rd., Statesville, passed away, Wednesday February 4, 2009 at Maple Leaf Health Care Center. She was born February 22, 1911 in Alexander County to the late Frontis Leroy Bruce and Sarah Miller Bruce. She was a homemaker, a member of Sandy Ridge United Methodist Church and she lived a full and blessed life touching everyone she met with kindness and compassion. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Clayton Tilley; one son, Bruce Alfred Tilley; one grandson, Rayford “Randy” Millsaps; and ten siblings. Her survivors include four sons, Delbert Tilley and wife Betty, Jack Tilley, Jimmy Tilley, Bobby Tilley and wife Shirley; one daughter, Nancy Millsaps and husband Rayford; one daughter in law, Lorene Tilley; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren all of Statesville. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00pm Friday February 6, 2009 at Mountain View United Methodist Church. Rev. Trevor Bathlor, Rev Bob Harris and Rev Otis Snow will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday 1:30-3:00pm at the church prior to the funeral hour and other times at their respective homes.
