Moselle Ball Watts, 94, of 894 West Main Ave., Taylorsville, passed away, Wednesday November 19, 2008 at Valley Nursing Center. She was born September 4, 1914, in Alexander County to the late Amos Franklin “A.F.” Ball and Lettie Lee Chamberlain Ball. She was a graduate of Stony Point High School. She received her BS degree from Appalachian State Teachers College and her Masters degree in Math and Science from George Peabody College in Tennesee. She was a School Teacher 42 years. She taught at Wingate Junior College, Taylorsville High School, Hiddenite High School, and Alexander Central before retiring in 1978. In 2000 she was a recipient of the Alexander County Schools Award of Honor. A member of First Baptist Church in Taylorsville and a Sunday School Teacher for 50 Years. She was also a member of Eastern Star. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Glenn “C.G.” Watts; three brothers, Willie Ball, Clyde Ball and David Ball; four sisters, Pearl Patterson, Hester White, Ruth Alexander and Nissie Ball. Her survivors include one son, John Watts and wife Susan of Taylorsville; two grandchildren, Jonathan Watts of Taylorsville and Nita Putnam and husband Travis of Chantilly, VA. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Saturday November 22, 2008 at First Baptist Church. Rev. Tim Marsh will be officiating. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the Taylorsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday 5:30-7:30pm at First Baptist Church and other times at the home. Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 405 West Main Ave., Taylorsville, NC 28681.
