Herman (Govenor) Glenn Scott

Herman Glenn “Governor” Scott, age 84, of Chipley Ford Road, Statesville, passed away, Saturday October 17, 2009 at Gordon Hospice House of Statesville, after five weeks illness. He was born on October 13, 1925 in Iredell County, to the late Flake Scott and Leona Dishmon Scott. Mr. Scott served in the U.S. Army in the 36th Infantry division during WWII. He was retired from the JC Penney Warehouse. He was also a member of Monticello Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifton Scott and Jack Scott. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Gentry Scott of the home; one son, Kenneth Scott and wife Julia of Statesville; one daughter, Carolyn Marlowe of Statesville; five grandchildren, Amy Wright, Cora Whitley, Jacob Scott, Ryan Marlowe, John Scott; one step grandchild, Michelle Brooks; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00pm Tuesday October 20, 2009 at the Monticello Baptist Church. Rev. Bobby Henderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the South River Baptist Church Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00pm at Monticello Baptist Church prior to the service. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
