Dorothy Stikeleather Murph, 87, of Brian Center Statesville, formerly of 423 Houston Rd. Troutman, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 25, 1920, in Iredell County, to the late J B Stikeleather, Sr. and Metta Morrison Stikeleather. She served in the US Army during WWII. She was a retired textile worker and of the Presbyterian faith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Holton Stikeleather and Archer Stikeleather; one grandson, Gregory Baudo. She is survived by her husband James “Ratch” Murph, Sr. of Brian Center Statesville; two sons, Jim R Murph, Jr. and wife Sherry of Statesville and Charles Curtis Stikeleather and wife Judy of Charlotte; two daughters, Beverly J Baudo and husband Paul of Long Island, NY, Brenda Asbury and husband John of Chattanooga, TN.; two brothers, J B Stikeleather, Jr. and wife Catherine of Troutman, David Stikeleather and wife Ann of Statesville; three sisters, Rachel Ellis of Stony Point, Doris McNeely of Statesville and Faye Little of Virginia; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday at 11:00am at Iredell Memorial Park.Military Rites will be provided by Hiddenite VFW Post #10,000 and Taylorsville VFW Post #5466. Rev. Henry Cook will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service and at other times at their respective homes. Memorials may be given to Rocky Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 828 Mt. View Rd., Statesville, NC 28625 or Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625.
