Earl Franklin Dagenhart
, age 83 of 2775 Millersville Rd., Taylorsville, passed away Thursday June 21, 2012 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, unexpectedly. He was born May 21, 1929 in Alexander County to the late Edd Dagenhart and Clara Warren Dagenhart. Mr. Dagenhart served in the US Army. He retired from Schneider Mills after 45 years of service. He was also a member of Mt. Wesley Wesleyan Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ewell Dagenhart and Paul Dagenhart; two sisters, Thelma Dagenhart Bumgarner and Hazel Dagenhart Barnes.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Betty Mitchell Dagenhart of the home; one son, Donald Mitchell and wife Janet; two daughters, Karen Dagenhart Matheson and husband Michael, Judy Dagenhart Hammer and husband Rickey all of Taylorsville; one sister, Emo Dagenhart Elder of Winston Salem; five grandchildren, Phil and Brad Munday, Josh and Noah Mitchell, Haley Hammer Wilmoth and husband Ryan; two great grandchildren, Sarah and Zachary Mundy; a brother in law and sister in law, Junior and Shirley Mitchell; a sister in law, Alice Dagenhart; and a number of nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:30pm Sunday June 24, 2012 at Mt. Wesley Wesleyan Church. Rev. Eric Yelton and Rev. Scott Adkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the VFW Hiddenite Post #10000 and Taylorsville Post # 5466. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:30pm at the church prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers memorials will be made to Mt. Wesley Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 403 Mt Wesley Church Rd., Hiddenite, NC 28636.

We were so sorry to hear of Earl's passing. We have so many fond memories from Liberty Meth. Church during the years we were all members there. He was always a special brother in Christ to us. Your family will truly be in our prayers.
