Leonard Edwin Flouton

Leonard Edwin Flouton, 74, beloved dad, grandpa, and great grandpa, passed away Sunday evening, May 24, 2026, at Glenwood Health and Rehab in Mooresville, NC. Leonard was born on November 5th, 1951, in Springfield, Massachusetts, to the late Edwin William and Lillian Goddu Flouton. He was the third out of nine children. Leonard graduated from Mitchell Community College in 1979 with a degree in business administration and was an avid pool player throughout his college years. Leonard worked in direct sales and traveled the USA selling magazines when he was younger. He then worked in the hospitality industry up until his health no longer allowed. He never allowed anything to defer him from doing anything he set his mind to. He loved to watch TV. His favorites included watching his Carolina Panthers play football, anything history related, National Geographic, and old sitcoms. He was sharp as a tack. He liked to play solitaire and loved his Diet Mountain Dew. His greatest joy was his children and grandchildren. Anytime one was to visit, he was thrilled to see them and would introduce them to everyone who walked by. He shared a special bond with his grandson John and loved all the time they spent together while John was growing up. He is survived by his daughter, Heather Cole. His son, Matthew Flouton (Stacey), 4 grandchildren, John Cole IV (Erica), Emily Cole (CJ), Jordan Johnson (Zach), and Travis Flouton. He is further survived by three great-grandchildren, whom he adored. Londyn Cole-Bennett, Waverleigh, and Kohen Johnson, and the mother of his children, Melody Redmond. He is then survived by four siblings. Cathy Kyles, Suzie Alphin, Freddy and Mary Flouton, and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Cole, III. His siblings, Joan Munday, Patsy Johnson, and Bernie and Bobby Flouton. Arrangements will be held on Saturday, June 6th. The family will have a small informal celebration of life at Caldwell Park. Please contact Heather Cole for additional details.
