Artie Sue Tevepaugh

Jesus took Artie’s hand and led her home on Monday August 04, 2025. She was born in Vashti in Alexander County on March 23, 1932 and lived at her family’s homestead until entering the Taylorsville House in 2021. Artie never married and lived independently until entering the Taylorsville House in the summer of 2021. She made her career in both textiles and furniture, finally retiring from Craft master Furniture in Taylorsville. She knew what every plant and flower was and could get anything to grow. She was able to make a pattern from just looking at something in a store window and then create her unique version and beauty. Many of us are proud owners of some of her creations. She loved teaching the art of gardening and mending to anyone who cared to learn. Artie held many titles throughout her life, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, WW, Sis, but the title that she gained later in life became her most cherished. She was Nana Arite to her beloved William. Her bold personality and fierce love of her friends and family was infectious. You wanted to be her friend, you wanted to learn from her and you always were sure to laugh with her. She is reunited in death with her parents, Reece and Ethel Tevepaugh, as well as her four siblings, Ruby Baker (Will), Annie Margaret Daniels (Jack), Henry Tevepaugh, and Tom Tevepaugh (Geneva). Artie is survived by her precious William and his mom, her great niece, Crystal (Scott), her sister-in-law Clara and numerous nieces and nephews and dear family friends. We join in collective grief to remember a woman whose life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and joy. Artie’s life was a journey of beautiful moments and inspiring experiences that will continue to shine in the hearts and minds of all who loved her. Her Internal legacy of love will forever be a guiding light in the lives of her family and friends. Services for Artie will be provided by Chapman Funeral Home. There is a visitation Wednesday August 6, 2025, from 6 Pm – 8 Pm at Chapman Funeral Home Stony Point. A graveside service at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Thursday at 11 AM and all are welcome. Donations may be given to the Taylorsville House (350 School Dr. Taylorsville NC 28681). Crystal would like to extend her sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff at The Taylorsville House and Medi Home Hospice Services, for the care of Artie. Melissa, you and your girls and Randy made her life brighter in a time that she needed it most. I could not have been more touched by the love and compassion shown to her, but also to me and our family. I will be forever thankful to the amazing staff. I would also like to thank all the family and friends that helped us care for her. Patsy, for your constant friendship and weekly visits to your WW. To three of her nieces, Betty, Bernice, and Dianne for always loving her and helping me, so I could spend time in Florida with my boys. And to Harold, her first and last love, who for 5 years only missed seeing her everyday by a handful of times. You and your love and visits kept her going and I am forever grateful.
