Arvie Lou Williams, age 85 of 403 Grassy Knob Church Rd., Union Grove passed away Friday May 14, 2010 at Gordon Hospice House after an extended illness. She was born July 4, 1924 in Iredell County to the late Thomas A Dison and Ellen Jordon Dison. She was retired from Piedmont Garment in Harmony. She was also member of Grassy Knob Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Spurgeon Williams; one daughter, Linda Redmond; two brothers, Romie Lee Dison and Charlie Dison; four sisters, Middie Shoemaker, Effie McDaniels, Dollie Hartness and Eula Kate Hartness.

She is survived by one son, Carter Williams and wife Daisy of Statesville; three daughters, Maybell Williams, Barbara Cates and husband Steve, Debra Williams all of Statesville; one grandson, Anthony Cates of Morganton; one special son in law, David Redmond.

A graveside service will be conducted 11:00am Monday May 17, 2010 at Grassy Knob Baptist Church. Rev. Sam Jordan will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-7:30pm at Chapman Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to the Gordon Hospice House 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
