Leroy Taylor 87, of 6039 Swinging Bridge Road, Conover, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was born May 3, 1921 in Bacon County, Georgia, to the late McVeiton Taylor and Etta Smith Taylor. He was a decorated WWII veteran that served our country in the United States Army Infantry in the Pacific. He retired after 31 years as a supervisor from General Electric. Leroy was an avid golfer. He was also a member of St Peters Lutheran Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Helen Aline Winebarger Taylor; three brothers, Ashley Taylor, Buck Taylor and Clayton Taylor; two sisters, Hattie Cothren and Chrissie Ritter.

He is survived by his sons, Chuck Taylor of Conover, Michael Taylor and wife Debbie of Claremont, Roger Taylor and wife Toni of Walnut Creek, CA.; two daughters, Teresa Lynn Taylor of Conover and Pat Isenhour and husband Gary of Conover; one brother, Cashie “Runt” Taylor and wife Louise of Jacksonville, Fl.; grandchildren: Barrett Taylor, Greg Isenhour and wife Heather, Heather Campbell, Erika Taylor, Shane Taylor, Brian Carrigan; step grandchildren, Shannon Bolick and husband Todd, John David McKeel, Molly Beth McKeel; great grandchildren: Jonathon Reid and wife Shelly, Gage Isenhour, Kyle Isenhour, Latisha Robinson; great-great grandchild, Kaylei Reid; and a number of nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday March 31, 2009 at 5:00pm at St Peters Lutheran Church. Rev. Paul D Birner and Rev Matthew Schilling will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military rites will be provided by Military Rites will be provided by Hiddenite VFW Post # 10,000 and Taylorsville VFW Post # 5466. The family will receive friends Tuesday March 31 from 4:00-5:00pm at the church prior to the funeral hour.
