Miss Helen R. Stafford, 60, of 1059 Mtn Ridge Road, Taylorsville, passed away Saturday April 4, 2009 at Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba County, Newton, NC after an extended illness. She was born April 12, 1948 in Iredell County to the late Roy Franklin and Mary Woodring Stafford. She was employed as a furniture worker and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Perry F. and Lottie F. Stafford; her maternal grandparents Joe and Lillie P. Woodring.

She is survived by one sister: Fay S. Arrowood; one niece Donna (Dee Dee) Arrowood; special cousins: Joe Woodring of Tennessee, Sarah Embler, Mark and Mack Woodring, and Irene Reese, all of Taylorsville; three uncles: Lindsay Stafford and wife Betty of Conover, Mack Stafford and wife Gail of Conover, and Wade Stafford, Sr. and wife Edna of Gastonia; two aunts: Toye Smith and Sara Seitz, both of Hickory; and a number of cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Jimbo Seaton, Rev. Allan Fox, and Rev. Rick Safriet will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, April 6 from 6:00-8:30pm at Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
