Rachel Gentry Scott, age 82 of 107 Bridle Lane, Statesville passed away Thursday June 3, 2010 at Davis Regional Medical Center. She was born March 3, 1928 in Iredell County to the late John W. Gentry and Ella Brooks Gentry. She was a textile worker and was also a member of Monticello Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Glenn Scott; one sister, Lois Mackey; and one brother, Charles Gentry.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth Glen Scott and wife Julia of Statesville; one daughter, Carolyn Marlowe of Statesville; one brother, Dr. J. B. “Bill” Gentry of Shelby; one sister, Maria Hinson of East Bend; five grandchildren, John and Jacob Scott, Ryan Marlow, Amy Wright, Cora Whitley; four great grandchildren, Kaleb and Hailey Wright, Hannah and Carley Whitley.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00pm Sunday June 6, 2010 at Monticello Baptist Church. Rev. Bobby Henderson will officiate. Burial will follow in South River Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00pm at Monticello Baptist Church prior to the funeral hour.

The pallbearers will include the Church Family.
