Thomas Alva “Tommy” Philmon, Jr., age 52 of 1320 Jud Smith Rd., Hiddenite, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley. He was born on September 27, 1956 in Pasco County, FL, to Thomas Alva Philmon, Sr. and Colene Goodwin Philmon of Hiddenite. He served in the United States Army/Navy during Vietnam. He was a disabled vet and a member of the DAV. Tommy was a construction worker and a former member of Faith Revival Crusades.

He was preceded by a nephew, Christopher Payne.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his brother, Earl Philmon and wife Beth of Raleigh; two sisters, Sandra Payne and husband Curtis of Stony Point, Sheila Sweet and husband Randy of Hiddenite; and a number of nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be conducted 11:00pm Saturday April 25, 2009 at Faith Revival Crusades church cemetery. Rev. Carlotta Reid will officiate. No formal visitation will be held, but the family will gather at the sister's house, Sheila at 1323 Jud Smith Rd., Hiddenite.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658.
