Jerry Wayne Pennell, age 69, of 90 Elliott Brann MHP, Hiddenite, passed away, Saturday December 5, 2009 at his home. He was born on April 14, 1940 in Alexander County, to the late Lee Pennell and Fannie Walker Pennell. Mr. Pennell was a carpenter and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his five brothers, William Pennell, Thurston Pennell, Glen Pennell, Miller Pennell, and Fred Pennell; two sisters, Marie Kolenet and Alma Adams.
He is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Cornelius and husband Jeff of Statesville, Gerri Pinnix and husband Donivan of Hiddenite; three step daughters, Frankie Smith of Stony Point, Denise Pruitt of Belmont and Debbie Rector of Stony Point; three brothers, Rayford Pennell of Stony Point, Jonie Pennell of Troutman, and Don Pennell of Statesville; four sisters, Marilee Hurlbut of Taylorsville, Nell Dean Goodman of Hiddenite, Loretta Brann and husband Elliott of Hiddenite, and Lucille Hendricks of Washington State; six grandchildren: Jeremy Pennell and wife Kim, Travis Cornelius and wife Ashley, Emily Pinnix, Eden Pinnix, Erin Pinnix, Elizabeth Pinnix; three great grandchildren: Tristen, Trace, Tyler.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm Tuesday December 8, 2009 at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ruel Fox will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm Tuesday prior to the service.
