Ruby Rachel Goode Parker, 74, of 704 Wils Way, Statesville, passed away, Friday December 19, 2008 at Gordon’s Hospice House. She was born March 3, 1934, in Madison County, NC to the late John Goode and Emaline Thorpe Goode. She was a seamstress, Home Health Nurse and a Librarian and of the Assembly of God faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Oren Hiram Helms; second husband, George Garris; third husband, Roy Lee Gilbert; fourth husband, Johnny Parker; one son, David Helms; one daughter, Cathy H. Carver; and a half brother, Charles Goode; and a grandson, Barry Piatt.
Her survivors include one son, Oren H. Helms, Jr. and wife Lavonda of Maiden; two daughters, Teresa H. Walker of Taylorsville and Carolyn H. Cashion and husband James A. of Pulaski, Va.; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
