Johnny “Chris” Nelson, age 41 of 98 Lambert Drive, Hiddenite, passed away, Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Iredell Memorial Hospital, unexpectedly. He was born November 12, 1968 in Caldwell County to the late Elmer Simmons and Louise Walsh Petrea. Mr. Nelson worked in furniture and was a member of Freedom Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Verla Mae Petrea; and his aunt Gloria Jean Petrea.

He is survived by his wife, Kristain Winstead Nelson; two sons, Joshua Nelson and Noah Nelson all of the home; one sister, Jennie Thomas and husband Lee of Hiddenite; one brother, Ronnie Nelson of Hickory; two nephews, Randy Lee Triplett and Phillip Triplett both of Taylorsville; several grand nephews and grand nieces; four special friends, Danny Holsclaw, Curtis Bare, Dennis Small and Steve Fulton; and special mother in law, Sarah Winstead of Hickory.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon Friday January 15, 2010 at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Sam Vallini will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery in Boone. The family will receive friends 7:00-9:00pm Thursday January 14, 2010 at Chapman Funeral Home.
