Mildred Lorene Mullen, age 76 of 381 Old Miller Rd., Statesville passed away Wednesday March 31, 2010 at Iredell Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born May 31, 1933 in Yancey County to the late Floyd Daniel Boone and Cora Robinson Leatherman. She was a homemaker, loved the mountains, and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and the Lydia Bible Class at the church in Statesville. |
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Quentin Mullen; one daughter, Lynda Mullen Moss; one step great grandson, James Woods.
She is survived by one daughter, Lorene Mullen Carlson and husband Charley of Statesville; one step daughter, Janell Woods and husband Jim of S.C.; two sisters, Peggy Lanford and Justina Deese both of Newton; five grandchildren, Mark Carlson, Phillip Carlson, Amy, Lara and Susan; three step grandchildren, Lydon, Regina and Candi; two great grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Saturday April 3, 2010 at Beulah Baptist Church. Rev. Henry Cook and Rev. Allen Roberts will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30pm Friday evening at Beulah Baptist Church and other times at the home of her daughter Lorene, 371 Old Miller Rd., Statesville.
Pallbearers include: Jackie Capps, Stephen Lundy, Brian Pope, Fred Sutton, Lynn Raper, and Jeffrey Raper.
Memorials may be given to the Media Ministry at Beulah Baptist Church, 1851 Old Mountain Rd., Statesville, NC 28677.
