Wilbur James “Pete” Motes, Jr., 49 of 247 Jimmy Duncan Lane, Taylorsville, passed away Wednesday February 25, 2009 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. He was born March 29, 1959 in Cook County, IL to Quida Mitchell Estep of West Virginia and the late Wilbur James Motes, Sr. He served in the US Army and worked in construction. He was also of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Cone Motes of the home; two sons, Brian Sherrod and Robert Sherrod both of Taylorsville; three daughters, Jennifer Sherrod and fiancée Jason Bridges of Taylorsville, Angela Hamby and husband Paul of Hiddenite and Tracie and husband Timothy of The home; brother, Gary Motes of West Virginia; two step brothers, Nathan Estep and George Estep both of West Virginia; a sister, Teresa Motes of Taylorsville; step sisters, Jamie and Belinda; sixteen grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

A memorial service will be conducted Sunday March 1, 2009 at 4:00pm at First Assembly of God. Pastor James Watson and Pastor Ray Ison will officiate . The family will have no formal visitation.
