James Roy Minton, age 79 of 110 Fairdale Road, Statesville has won his victory and went home to be with his heavenly Father and with his beloved Mother, Friday February 12, 2010 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born February 15, 1930 in Alexander County to the late Garfield Minton and Julie Adams Minton. Mr. Minton worked in furniture most of his life. He served as lay minister from 1964 until his retirement. He served in Bread of Life Ministry and the Gospel Tabernacle both in Statesville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Kasey Humphries; and his son in law, Homer L Webb.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Baldwin Minton of the home; four daughters, Diane Lewis and husband David, Barbara Webb Ingool and husband Bill, Loretta Anders and husband Roger, Angela Humphries and husband Ronnie; one brother, Allen Lee Minton of Stony Point; two sisters, Arlene Brown of Hiddenite, Louise Hancock of Randleman; grandchildren: Rev. James D Lewis and wife Melanie, Tami Forbes and husband Rodney, Marcus Webb wife Jenny, Rachel Anders, Sierra Humphries, Joshua Humphries; great grandchildren: Kristian Lewis, Jamie Lewis, Jr., Ashleigh Lewis, Leanna Forbes, Olivia Forbes, Christina Forbes, Alyssa Forbes, Trinity Webb, and Ella Webb.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Monday February 15, 2010 at Living Word Ministry. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the funeral service. Rev. James D Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00pm Sunday February 14, 2010 at Chapman Funeral Home.
