Charles Mebane Miller, age 75, of 147 West Lackey Farm Road, Stony Point, passed away, Saturday October 24, 2009 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, after an extended illness. He was born on February 9, 1934 in Iredell County, to the late John Davidson Miller and Bessie Mae Bunton Miller. Mr. Miller retired from the U.S. Navy after a 20 year career, served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He also retired after 20 years from International Paper Company, attended Freedom Baptist Church in Hiddenite and was a member of the DAV Chapter 68 in Statesville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack Miller, John Miller, William Miller, and Glen Miller.
He is survived by his wife, whom he married December 25, 1955, Mildred Dyson Miller of the home; two daughters, Anita M York and husband Wayne of Union Grove, Tammy M Drye and husband Ronald of Cool Springs; two brothers, H Dean Miller and Tony R Miller both of Statesville; three sisters, Thelma Brown, Juanita Sloan and Pauline Gallyon all of Statesville; three grandchildren, Travis Drye, Whitney York, Hailey York.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00pm Tuesday October 27, 2009 at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Sam Vallini will officiate. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens. Military rights will be conducted. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00pm Tuesday at Chapman Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.
