William E. “Bill” McLain, age 81 of 1115 Center Church Road, Hiddenite passed away Thursday February 18, 2010 at Iredell Memorial Hospital, after an extended illness. He was born October 8, 1928 in Alexander County to the late William D McLain and Pearl Munday McLain. Mr. McLain was a retired farmer and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack McLain, Johnnie McLain, Lee McLain, and Fred McLain, Tom Russell and Roscoe Russell; sisters, Elva Bunton, Lessie Marlowe, Kate Bunton, Beth Meadows, Mildred McLain, Ellen McLain.
He is survived by his two brothers, Rev. James McLain of Statesville, Edd McLain and wife Ruth of Hiddenite.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00pm Sunday February 21, 2010 at Fairview Baptist Church. Rev. Ruel Fox, Rev. Wade Wright and Rev. James McLain will officiate. Burial will follow in the Linneys Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2:00-3:00pm prior to the service.
Pallbearers include: Marty McLain, Barry McLain, Bradley McLain, Darren McLain, Kelly McLain, Tyler McLain, and Joshua McLain.
