Patricia “Pat” McCormick McElroy, age 51 of 671 W. Lackey Farm Rd., Stony Point passed away Friday July 16, 2010, unexpectedly. She was born October 17, 1957 to Lucy Greene McCormick of Stony Point and the late Bernard “Dink” Bailey McCormick. She was a loan officer for the Beneficial Company and was also member of Temple Baptist Church.

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob McElroy; one son, Shaun Michael Spera, Sr., and her dog, Onyx.
In addition to her mother she is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Spera Bumgarner and husband Brian of Mocksville; one brother, Butch McCormick and wife Debbie of Statesville; two grandchildren, Shaun Michael Spera, Jr. and Levi Shaun Bumgarner.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Thursday July 22, 2010 at Temple Baptist Church. Rev. Jason Payne will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00pm Wednesday evening at Chapman Funeral Home.

I am very sorry for your loss. I knew Patty (as we called her) at Scotts Elementary School from the 1st grade in Mrs. McBride's class on up through the other grades. She was a very nice person. It is always sad to hear of someone from my childhood passing. May God comfort you and may the memories you have shared sustain you for a lifetime.

We are so sorry for the loss of Pat. We sure had some good memories with her. We just saw her a few months ago and thank god we got to catch up on old and new times. We will miss you Pat but you finally have PEACE at home in heaven.
