James Carl Mayberry, age 97 of 2485 NC Hwy 90 East, Taylorsville passed away Monday June 28, 2010 at Valley Nursing Center, after an extended illness. He was born May 25, 1913 in Iredell County to the late Joel Mayberry and Cora Lee Bruce Mayberry. Mr. Mayberry served in the US Army during WWII and was a disabled veteran. He was a farmer and antique dealer. He was also a member of White Plains Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Sue Kerley Mayberry; one brother, Howard Mayberry; one sister, Opal Mayberry; and a grandson, Phillip Pennell.
He is survived by one son, Raymond Mayberry of Bakersville; two daughters, Linda Mayberry of Charlotte, Nadine Pennell and husband Winford of Taylorsville; two brothers, Roy Mayberry and Russell Mayberry both of Statesville; three sisters, Mildred Head of Hiddenite, Mary Martin of Cary, and Effie Queen of Stony Point; four grandchildren: Sheila Pennell Earp and husband Scott, Myra Reid, Robert Reid, Jason Mayberry; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Wednesday June 30, 2010 at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Allen Fox will officiate. Burial will follow in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by VFW Hiddenite post #10000 and Taylorsville post #5466. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00am prior to the funeral hour at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include: Jason Mayberry, David Steele, Barry Queen, Scott Earp, Roger Kerley, and Jeff Lowrance.
