Adam Robert Matheson 30, of North Wilkesboro, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 12 Old Mountain Road, Hiddenite. He was born August 14, 1978 in Iredell County to Patti Gourley Childers of Winston Salem and the late Donald Ray “Donnie” Matheson, Sr. He worked in car sales. He was also of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his stepfather, Jerry Childers of Winston Salem; grandmother, Suma Childers Matheson of Hiddenite; son, Noah Matheson of Wallburg, NC; three daughters, Lauren Matheson of Wallburg, NC, Emma Matheson and Leola Pierce both of the home; one brother, Donald Ray Matheson, Jr. of Hiddenite, two half brothers, Jason Childers and Philip Childers both of Winston Salem; fiancée, Heather Merritt of the home; future in laws, Tony and Stephanie Elliott of Union Grove; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted 4:00pm Tuesday January 13, 2009 at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Parks and Rev. Mitch King will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:30pm – 3:45pm Sulphur Springs Baptist Church and other times at the home of his grandmother, Suma Matheson in Hiddenite.

I remember the day Adam was born and seeing him at Grandma and Grandpa Gourley house playing in the yard. He would always wave hello to me if I was in the yard. As I saw him grow through out the years he never failed to wave hello or come over for a hug. Not to long ago I needed help with the house outside and he knew the last few years I have not felt well. He was over the next day Helping. Gave me a hug and a smile on his face. I wanted to pay him but he said no that my friendship was was enough. You will be missed Adam.Thank you for the many waves hello from the tiny little boys hand to the young man's hand and the helpfull hands to me when they were needed.
