Wade Mitchell Mason, 78, of  Love Valley Community, Statesville, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday October 11, 2008 at Maple Leaf Healthcare Center. He was born on December 26, 1929, in Alexander County, to the late William McKinley Mason and Ollie Duncan Mason. He was a textile worker, farmer and carpenter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Doris Elaine Mason; two brothers, Johnny Mason and James Mason; two sisters, Ruby Patterson and Olean Tolbert.

 Survivors include three sons, Doug Mason and wife Scarlett, Joe Mason and wife Martha, Craig Mason and fiancée Donna Flowers all of McBee, S.C.; two daughters, Libby Conner and husband Eugene of Hiddenite, Judy Thompson and husband Chuck of Camden, S.C.; one brother, Bill Mason of Statesville; one sister, Katy Meadows of Statesville; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The family extends a very special thanks to all the caring people at Maple Leaf Healthcare Center, Frye Regional and Davis Regional Hospitals.  Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm on Wednesday at Rocky Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Henry Cook and Rev. Wes Hammer will be officiating. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00-9:00pm at Chapman Funeral Home, Stony Point, NC. Memorials may be given to Gideon International PO Box 517, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
