Eva Katherine Teague Mahaffey, age 87 of 243 Speaks Road , Olin went home to be with the Lord Wednesday April 7, 2010 surrounded by her family at Iredell Memorial Hospital . She was born June 5, 1922 in Iredell County to the late Ross Teague and Jeanettie “Nettie” Deal Teague. She was a homemaker, loving Mother, loved playing the piano and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church .

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gaither Mahaffey, one daughter, Penny Nicholson; two sisters, Betty Massey and Faye Warren.

She is survived by one son, Jerry Mahaffey and wife Anita of Olin; one daughter, Diane Eller and husband J C of Olin; one sister, Lizzie Nell Grant and husband Raymond of Statesville; three grandchildren, Chris Wike, Taira Toney and husband Gerry, Brent Mahaffey; five great grandchildren, Ethan Toney, Eva Toney, Elizabeth Toney, Trey Mahaffey and Tyler Mahaffey; and a number of nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Saturday April 10, 2010 at Winthrop Friends Church . Rev. Harold Salmons will officiate. Burial will follow in the Grassy Knob Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm prior to the service at Winthrop Friends Church.

Memorials may be given to the Hospice of Iredell 2347 Simonton Road , Statesville , NC 28625 .
