Abraham Lincoln Leonard 78, of 75 Melody Lane, Hiddenite, passed away Monday, January 12, 2009 at his home. He was born February 12, 1930 in Sullivan County, Tennessee to the late Rev. William Leonard and Mary Jane Eaton Leonard. He worked for Kern’s Bakery for 12 years and retired from Craftmaster Furniture after thirty two years of employment. He was also of the Baptist faith. He loved playing his guitar, going fishing or just spending his time with friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Alice Faye Chapman Leonard; brothers, Wallace Leonard, Charlie Leonard, Earl Louis Leonard, Tommie Leonard, James Leonard; sister, Anita Leonard Lang. He is survived by his children, Randy Leonard and Kathy Leonard; sisters, Ruth Waltrip and husband Robert of Blountville, TN, Ella Mae Whitaker and husband Jack; a number of nephews and nieces; and special friends, Kathy Curry and Andrew Hudson.
Abe was cremated and no formal services were planned. Interment will be in the Taylorsville Cemetery. Chapman Funeral Home would like to extend a special thanks to Linda Browning of Cupboard Express in Hiddenite, Craftmaster Furniture, the Hiddenite community, Abe's co-workers, and friends that came together to help with Mr. Leonard's final expenses.
