Roy Frank Lentz, Sr., age 90 of 418 Lentz Road, Statesville, passed away, Monday September 28, 2009 at his home, after an extended illness. He was born on August 16, 1919 in Iredell County, to the late Azor Sloan Lentz and Hattie Jane Milholen. Mr. Lentz served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a septic tank contractor and a poultry farmer. He was also a member of the American Legion and Fairmount United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Lentz Frazier; and one grandson, Michael Todd Lentz.

He is survived by his wife, whom he married July 5, 1941, Ruth Little Lentz of the home; two sons, Roy Frank Lentz, Jr. and wife Barbara, Keith Lentz and wife Teresa both of Statesville; one sister, Mary Lee Grose of Harmony; two grandsons, Jarrid Lentz and wife Jeanie; and Jason Lentz and wife Nichole; three great grandchildren: Tanner, Addison, and Ashton.

Funeral services will be conducted 4:00pm Thursday October 1, 2009 at Fairmount United Methodist Church. Rev. Joe Conley and Rev. Marsha Joyner will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by Hiddenite Post # 10,000 and Taylorsville Post # 5466. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00pm at the church prior to the service.
