Marjorie Meadows Lackey, loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend recently passed on into the very presence of Almighty God after a valiant five year struggle with cancer, at home on Thursday April 24, 2008. Mrs. Lackey was a faithful, long time member of Berea Baptist Church where she shared her gift of music be serving as the organist. She was a member of the VFW post #10,000 auxiliary where she has served as local President and as District President. She was an active, loving and sharing individual who touched many lives withy her faith, wisdom and joy.

Majorie served as a long term caregiver to her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Adams. She served as a school bus driver for Alexander Central high School, worked as a CNA at the Brian Center, Emerald Valley Nursing Home and in numerous individuals homes.Mrs. Lackey was preceded in death by husbands, Captain Eugene Meadows and Phil Lackey, her parents Hugh and Ida Bell Adams Sprinkle, her grandparents, Charlie and Lizzie Adams. She is survived by three daughters and one son: Tamara Meadows Stafford, husband Garry, sons - Adam and Jon Stafford.Kimberely Meadows Miller, husband, Roy, sons - Josh Fincannon and wife Samantha, Jake Fincannon.Phyllis Lackey Durmire, husband, Dewayne, daughter – Megan McLain, sons – Matt Mclain, Dalton and Devin Durmire.Philip Lackey, wife – Carrie, daughter, Taylor Quinn Lackey. Two sisters: Doris Martin, Betty Sprinkle Three brothers: Conrad Sprinkle, Donald Sprinkle, Douglas SprinkleFuneral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00pm at Berea Baptist Church.Rev. Charles Cook will be officiating. Body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:30pm-8:00pm at Berea Baptist Church. To everyone who shared their concern and caring spirits with Marjorie over the past five years, the family of Mrs. Lackey would like to express their sincere appreciation and humble thanksgiving for all the prayers, cards, flowers, words and acts of kindness which were offered. The family request that memorials to honor Mrs. Lackey be made to:American Cancer Society, Hospice, Berea Baptist Church, The Gideons. I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am about Marjorie's passing away. I know you will miss her terribly. What a special lady she was! I always felt loved and cared for by Marjorie. I'm so grateful that she is now rejoicing in God's presence, with no pain and no suffering.
