Margaret Patterson Lackey, 88, of 460 County Line Road, Stony Point, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday October 28, 2008 at her home. She was born January 11, 1920 in IredellCounty to the late John Newton Patterson and Martha “Mattie” Alexander Patterson. She was a homemaker and a secretary for Harlee Lackey Construction. She was also a member Stony PointUnitedMethodistChurch.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Harlee Lackey whom she married September 4, 1942; three brothers, Howard Patterson, Lewis Patterson and Leonard Patterson; five sisters, Evelyn Patterson, Lois Hollifield, Emma Lou Stout, Elizabeth “Lib” Stevenson and Jean Fincannon. Her survivors include three sons, Gary Lackey and wife Sharon of Hiddenite, Tim Lackey and wife Melissa, Terry Lackey; two daughters, Betty Payne and husband David, Carolyn Morgan and husband Mike all of Stony Point; five grandchildren and one step grandchild, Darrin Payne and wife Christine of Stony Point, Jessica Lackey of Hiddenite, Mikey Morgan and Adam Morgan of Stony Point, Jacob Lackey of Taylorsville, Christopher Carrigan of Stony Point; three great grandchildren, Garett Payne, Bryson Payne and Spencer Carrigan all of Stony Point. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Thursday October 30, 2008 at Stony PointUnitedMethodistChurch. Rev. Neil Bowman will be officiating. Body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the Stony PointCemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday 7:00-8:30pm at Chapman Funeral Home.Pallbearers include: Darrin Payne, Mikey Morgan, Chris Carrigan, Tony Walker, Johnny Chapman, and Butch Fincannon.Memorials may be given to the Stony Point United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund PO Box 120, Stony Point, NC 28678. Your mother was a wonderful lady. She always had a kind word and a beautiful smile every time I saw her. She will be dearly missed on county line road. Your parents were one of the first neighbors my family met when we moved here 30 years ago and they were so helpful. My father thought the world of them both. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
