Esker Jack Keaton, age 85 of 101 Fink Rd., Statesville passed away Tuesday April 20, 2010 at Iredell Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born July 6, 1924 in Iredell County to the late James Keaton and Ola Lackey Keaton. Mr. Keaton served in the US Army during WWII, was retired from Uniglass and of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his two sons, Leon Keaton and wife Ailene of Statesville, Jerry Keaton and wife Lynn of Statesville; four daughters, Gladys Darty, Earnestine Keaton, Mary Ola Keaton, and Jackie Keaton all of Detroit, Michigan; one half brother, Frank Feimster of Troutman; one sister, Ruby Mae Wellman and husband Lonnie of Statesville; thirty two grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and a special friend, Katherine Dye of Statesville.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Monday April 26, 2010 at the St. Joseph Baptist Church. Rev. Tom Dye and Rev. Ira McCullough will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military rites will be provided by VFW Post 10000 and VFW Post 5466. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm prior to the funeral service at the church.
