Helen Wood Jones 73, of 12277 Statesville Road, Union Grove, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at her home. She was born April 9, 1936 in Jamestown, NY to the late Roger Peter Wood and Nellie Kane Wood. She was retired from Honeywell where she was a touch-up operator. She was also of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Jay Jones, two brothers, Peter Wood and Dennis Wood; one sister Martha W. Hallmark.

She is survived by two sons, William R. Jones, Jr. of Tampa Fl, James D. Jones of the home; four daughters, Rowena Smith, Rebecca J. Jones both of Union Grove, Alana Jones of N. Wilkesboro, Elizabeth A. Jones of Tampa Fl; two sisters, Emily Mae Bernette and Elsie Prince both of NY; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00pm Monday, July 6, 2009 at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Lynn Kunkle will be officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 2:30-4:00pm prior to the funeral at Chapman Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Iredell County, Community Home Care, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
