Raymond Edward Joines, 81, of 109 Village Dr. Statesville, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 22, 1926, in Wilkes County, to the late Dewey S Joines and Molly Hamilton Joines. He served in the United States Army, installed gas pumps for gas companies and bowled in a bowling league in Statesville. He was also of the baptist faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Lewis Joines and one sister Peggy Joines.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Myers Joines of the home; one son, Eddie Joines of Texas; one step son, Billy Sides of Olin; one daughter, Lorrie Baity of Statesville; seven step daughters, Maxine Wallace, Kay Killy, Kim Gabriel all of Ft Worth, TX, Diane Jones of Salisbury, LaVerne Lamberth of Statesville, Barbara Fink of Mountain City, TN, and Tena Eury of Albemarle; four brothers, Donald Joines and Ralph Joines both of Moravian Falls, Fred Joines of North Wilkesboro and Michael Joines of Statesville; four sisters, Mary Frances Reep, Dare Marie Joines both of Wilkesboro, Lillie Laws of Statesville and Nancy Mullens of Elkin; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted Monday July 7, 2008 at 3:00pm at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Buster Treadway will be officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service.
