J. C. “Jake” Johnson, age 81 of 149 Johnson-Sturgill Lane, Hiddenite passed away Wednesday February 24, 2010 at Iredell Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born March 3, 1928 in Wilkes County to the late Robert “Bob” Johnson and Blanch Chatham Johnson. Mr. Johnson served in the US Navy. He was a farmer, loved to be outside, staying busy. He was also of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Jim Johnson, Dave Johnson, Rob Johnson and Royal Johnson; two sisters, Ethel Anderson and China Sharpe.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Daniels Johnson of the home; one son, Donnie Johnson and friend Brenda of Hiddenite; one daughter, Debbie Peacock and husband Gerald of Statesville; one brother, Charlie Johnson of Hiddenite; two sisters, Paulaine McCurdy and husband Jimmy of Statesville, Hazel Morton of Ohio; four grandchildren, Melissa Poteat, Ben Johnson, Tracy Peacock Johnson and Jason Peacock; three great grandchildren, Brooke Poteat, Drew Poteat and Madeleine Ann Johnson.

A graveside service will be conducted 2:00pm Friday February 26, 2010 at the Hiddenite Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by Hiddenite Post #10000 and Taylorsville Post #5466. Rev. Joey Campbell will officiate. There will be no formal visitation.
