Christine Grimes Johnson, 55 of 917 Lewittes Road, Taylorsville, passed away Tuesday June 30, 2009 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. She was born August 5, 1953 in Jackson County, KY to Johnny Grimes and Callie Maggard. She was employed by Craftmaster of Hiddenite and was a member of East Taylorsville Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, J.B. Grimes, Dennis Grimes and Earl Grimes; two sisters, Ruby Grimes and Peggy Grimes.

She is survived by her two sons, Ricky Pennell and wife Debra of Hiddenite; Jerry Pennell and wife Vickie Taylorsville; two brothers, Wayne Grimes of Vinton, OH and Charles Grimes of Lexington, KY; five sisters, Fran Johnston, Dove Buboltz both of Frankfort, KY, Patsy Lerman of Dayton, OH, Bonnie Wilson of Tyner, KY and Shirley Hall of Clarksville, TN; two grandchildren, Ezra Pennell and Kassie Pennell.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Thursday July 2, 2009 at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Chris Benfield will officiate . Burial will follow in the Hiddenite Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm prior to the funeral at Chapman Funeral Home.
