Dorothy Jean Dye Houpe, 84, of 217 Odell Road, Statesville, passed away, Friday February 6, 2009 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. She was born September 18, 1924, in Iredell County to the late Tommie Lee Dye and Alvira Robinson Dye. She was a graduate of Unity High School. She was a retired textile worker and a member of Logan Presbyterian Church, The Progressive Womens Organization, Hospitality Committee, Senior Choir and Scotts Community Chorus. Her home church was St. Joseph Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, George Dye, James Charles Dye, Henry Lee Dye; four sisters, Frances Dye Millsaps, Zelma Lee Dye, Annie Mae Dye Morrison, Mammie Dye Millsaps.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde Lee Houpe of the home; one son, Rickey Houpe of the home; one brother, Rev. Thomas Dye of Statesville; first cousin like a sister, Camilla Dye Scott of Troutman; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00pm Tuesday February 10, 2009 at Logan Presbyterian Church. Rev. James A. Dickens will be officiating. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 7:00-8:00pm Monday February 9, 2009 at Chapman Funeral Home.
