Kelly Martin Houck, Sr., 58, of 2392 NC Hwy 127, Taylorsville, passed away Friday morning, May 23, 2008, at his home. He was born on September 6, 1949, in Catawba County, to the late George Kelly Houck and Evelyn Denise MaDaris Houck. He had a business “Kelly’s Heating and Air Conditioning” for about 16 years, till he could no longer work. He had been in declining health for a number of years mostly from serving in the Vietnam War. He served in the United States Marine Corp. and Vietnam for 13 months from 1969 til 1970.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sandra Kay Houck of the home; one son, Kelly Martin Houck, Jr.; one daughter, Kimberly Kay Houck of Statesville; one sister, Brenda Houck Lockaby and husband Fred of Bethlehem; one grandson, Joshua Donescoss of Statesville; two granddaughters, Alisa-Beth Donescoss of Statesville and Emily Nicole Houck of Conover; one aunt, Joyce MaDaris Huffman of Hickory and a number of nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be conducted at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel Sunday May 25, 2008 at 1:30pm. Rev. Bill Honeycutt will officiate. The will be no formal visitation, although the family will assemble at the home. Memorials may be given to the D.A.V. Chapter 84, 582 Carrigan Rd, Taylorsville, NC 28681 or the Hospice of Catawba County, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658. Sandra, I am so sorry to hear about Kelly. I knew that his health was getting worse but I had no idea that he was that sick. I am sorry that it has been so long that we have spoken but many times our adventure would go through my mind. I have told Brie about our walks to and from school and about being with Kelly when little Kelly was born. Also our wonderful memories of Camp Lejune! I saw Kelly a few years ago at Fred's and we talked his said he was no longer able to work. I don't have a phone number for you anymore if you want to call mine is the same. Again I am so sorry and if there is anything Gene and I can do please let us know. My heart goes out to you and the kids.
