Grover Cleveland Hellard, Jr., 78, of 139 N Morvue Loop, Statesville, went to be with the Lord, Friday August 8, 2008 at Gordon Hospice House. He was born on July 21, 1930, in Wake County, NC, to the late Grover Cleveland Hellard, Sr. and Myrtle McAlpin Hellard. He served in the United States Air Force, was retired from JC Penney Distribution Center and was also a member of Front Street Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, John Hellard and one sister, Ruby Lee Felker.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Lee Hellard of the home; one son, Rev. Rodney Craig Hellard and wife Janet of Siler City; two grandchildren, Justin Hellard and Bradley Hellard of Raleigh.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday August 12, 2008 at 11:00am at Front Street Baptist Church. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour. Rev. Tim Stutts will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Stony Point Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by Hiddenite Post #10,000 and Taylorsville Post #5466. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00pm-8:00pm in Holland Chapel at Front Street Baptist Church.

Pallbearers include: Lynn White, Danny Stikeleather, Keith Somers, John Wright, Bob Cook and Jerry Black. Honorary Pallbearers include: Homeward Bound Sunday School Class.
