William Haskell Head, age 81, of 1290 Pisgah Church Rd., Hiddenite, passed away Saturday April 11, 2009 at Mapleleaf Healthcare from a brief illness. He was born on January 30, 1928 in Alexander County, to the late William Burpee Head & Lola Robertson Head. He was a retired farmer and textile worker and he associated with Bright Light Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Head; two sisters, Marie H Moore and Margie H Nicholson.

He is survived by his wife, whom he married July 15, 1956, Eula Stevenson Head of the home; two sons, William Franklin Head of Greensboro and Dennis Head and wife Lourine of Marietta, GA.; three grandchildren, Donovan, Daniel, and Diana.

Services celebrating Mr. Head’s life, will be conducted 4:00pm Tuesday April 14, 2009 at Pisgah United Methodist Church. Rev. Keith Bowman and Rev. Bob Harris will officiate. Burial will be follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from Monday 6:30-8:30pm at Chapman Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Pallbearers include: Daniel Head, Donnie Goodin, Geoff Losey, James Lowe, Kelly Carson, Rick Lackey. Honorary pallbearers include: Curtis Moore, Delbert Tilley, Harry Lee Robertson, Joe Harris, Paul Lowe, Roger Lackey, Russell Lackey, Wilson Godfrey, Dover Lackey.

Memorials may be given to Pisgah United Methodist Church, 488 Hill Farm Rd., Hiddenite, NC 28636 or Bright Light Baptist Church, 478 Trinity Rd., Statesville, NC 28625.
