Charles Eugene Gentle, age 82 of 2640 Davie Ave., Statesville, former resident of Taylorsville, passed away, Monday, January 11, 2010 at Maple Leaf Health Care Center, after an extended illness. He was born January 17, 1927 to the late George Franklin Gentle and Maggie Triplett Gentle. Mr. Gentle served in the US Navy during WWII, was a self employed appliance repair man and was of the Baptist faith. |
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Jean Bullis Gentle; one brother, William Thomas Gentle.
He is survived by one son, Franklin Eugene Gentle of Hickory; four daughters, Lydia Marlene Stewart of Claremont, Crystal Louise Sweet, Teresa Lynn Starnes both of Hickory, and Paula Oddette York of Taylorsville; eight grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted 11:00am Tuesday January 12, 2009 at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Buster Treadway will be officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Association, 3420 Shamrock Dr. Charlotte, NC 28215.

I am so sorry to here of Charles' passing. I remember your family well from being your neighbor in Taylorsville in the 50's. It is never easy to lose a parent and I know you will miss your father.
