Bertha Queen Frye, age 74 of 283 Bruce Farm Road, Statesville, passed away Wednesday June 4, 2008 at Davis Regional Medical Center.  She was born July 27, 1933 in Iredell County to the late Stacy Queen and Beulah Estes Queen. She was a homemaker and attended Friendly Chapel Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Frye was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Queen and John Queen; two sisters, Dorothy Queen and RosaLee Elliott; one grandson, Alex Mason.

 

Mrs. Frye is survived by her husband of 58 years, Herbert “Hub” Frye of the home; one son, Skip Frye and wife Mary Jo of Statesville; five daughters, Bonnie Millsaps and husband King, Diana Hartness and husband Dennis, Wanda Johnson and husband Dale, Lee Mason and husband Mike, Linda Myers all of Statesville; two brothers, Roy Queen and wife Francis; Henry Queen and wife Linda both of Statesville; one sister, Mildred Norton of Stony Point; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday June 7, 2008 at 2:00pm at Friendly Chapel Baptist Church. Rev. Otis Johnson will be officiating. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday June 6, 2008 at Chapman Funeral Home from 7:00pm – 8:30pm and other times at the home.

 

Memorials may be given to the Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625
