Roger Lee Echerd, age 63, of 70 Fox Court, Taylorsville, passed away, Monday June 7, 2010 at Catawba Valley Medical Center, after an extended illness. He was born on May 28, 1947 in Iredell County , to the late Howard Echerd and Laurette Icenhour Echerd. He worked in furniture. He was also a member of Friendship Lutheran Church .

He is survived by his wife, Viola Cook Echerd of the home; two sons, Patrick Echerd, and Stephen Echerd and wife Tina all of Taylorsville; three step children, Sidney Combs of NJ, Carrie Combs and Marsha Cline both of Taylorsville; two grandchildren, Justin Echerd and Jenna Echerd; and a number of step grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 4:00pm Thursday June 10, 2010 at the Friendship Lutheran Church Cemetery. Pastor Phil Thorsen will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3:30-4:00pm prior to the funeral hour at the church.
