Margaret Barkley Carson, age 64 of 2242 Cline Street, Statesville passed away Saturday June 26, 2010 at Iredell Memorial Hospital, after an extended illness. She was born August 9, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida to Frances Hinck Barkley of Statesville and the late Wilfred Lewis Barkley. She was a nurse at Davis Hospital in Statesville for many years. She was also a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church in Catawba County. |
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by one brother, William Tate Barkley.
In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband, Gene Carson of the home; two sons, Kenneth Hicks and wife Marsha of Jacksonville, FL, Steven Hicks of Johnson City, TN; one brother, Lewis Barkley and wife Melody of Harmony; one sister, Carolyn Barkley of Seattle, WA; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Tuesday June 29, 2010 at Hopewell United Methodist Church. Rev. Tamara Wensil will officiate. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour. Burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm Monday evening at Chapman Funeral Home.

| I send out my deepest condolences to the family of Margaret Carson. Losing a dear loved one is a difficult hardship to face. I do hope you all find much comfort at John 5:28, 29 where Jesus Christ spoke of a time when "all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." So I encourage you to look forward to the hope of seeing Margaret again.

I am so sorry for your loss. Margaret was a wonderful person and very dear to me. Margaret was an example to me of how we should live and serve the Lord. We at Hopewell will miss her and think of her often.
