Ray Nelson Branton, 57, of 773 Marlowe Rd., Hiddenite, passed away Thursday December 18, 2008 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Asheville. He was born August 29, 1951 in Alexander County to Nellie Harrington Branton of the home and the late Roby Branton. He served in the United States Army. He was a farmer and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his mother he is survived by two brothers, Larry Branton and wife Libby and Kenneth Branton and wife Elaine both of Hiddenite.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00pm Sunday December 21, 2008 at Pilgrim Baptist Church. Rev. Chris Benfield will be officiating. Military rites will be provided by the VFW, Hiddenite Post #10,000 and Taylorsville Post #5466.
The family will receive friends Sunday 2:00-3:00pm at the church and other times at the home of his brother Larry, 448 Marlowe Rd. Hiddenite. Memorials may be given to Pilgrim Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 965 Pilgrim Church Rd. Hiddenite, NC 28636. Condolences may be e-mailed to the Branton family by clicking on the link below.
