James Larry Barnes, 65, of 3810 Hwy 90 E. Taylorsville passed away Monday, August 11, 2008, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 26, 1943, in Wilkes County to the late Avery Barnes and Mammie Bumgarner Barnes.  He was a dairy farmer and furniture worker. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Elmer Barnes, Elden Barnes, and Kenneth Barnes.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Roberts Barnes of the home; three sons: Dean Barnes and wife Sharon of Whitsett, Stevie Barnes of Greensboro, Timothy Barnes and fiancée Corlissa Watts of Troutman; two daughters: Joyce Worley and husband Robert of Hiddenite, and Janet Barnes of Stony Point, NC; Two brothers: Billy Joe Barnes and wife Lucille of Taylorsville, and Pete Barnes of Stony Point, NC. One sister: Ilene Harrold and husband Walter of Hays; Eleven grandchildren: Shannon Barnes and wife, Ashley, Justin Barnes, Tony Grant, Danielle Barnes, Brandon Worley and wife Blakely, Anthony Worley, Jessie Barnes, Brianna Barnes, Erek Barnes, Marissa Barnes, and Kaylea Barnes; Five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 3:00pm.at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jerry Chatham will officiate. Burial will follow in the Stony Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Chapman Funeral Home Wednesday from 2:00pm-3:00pm prior to the service.
