Kathy Mathis Ball, 57, of 467 Sheperd Ct., Taylorsville, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at her home. She was born August 4, 1951, in Cabarrus County to the late Hubert Mathis and Hazel Hemphill Mathis. She was a farm worker and a member of the Open Door Baptist Church in Conover.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her birth mother, Patricia Hartmann.
She is survived by her husband, Claude Richard Ball, Sr. of the home; three sons, Sam Laws of Wilkes, Daniel Laws and wife Susan of Wilkesboro, Claude Richard Ball, Jr. of the home; one step son, Dewey Ball of Fl.; one daughter, Lynda Ball of North Wilkesboro; four step daughters, Roxanne Ball and Aileen Ball both of Kernersville, Tammy Ball of Taylorsville, and Reba Green of Raleigh; one brother, Ted Mathis; two sisters, Christal and Jan; and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Monday April 13, 2009 at Victory Baptist Church. Rev Mitchell Rash and Darrell Williams will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday 1:00-2:00pm at the church prior to the funeral hour.
