Clarence “Bill” Askew, age 98 of 400 North Morgan Street, Shelby, formerly of 56 Linda Lane, Stony Point passed away Thursday February 25, 2010 at White Oak Manor in Shelby. He was born May 31, 1911 in Atlanta, GA to the late Nathaniel Orestes Askew and Laura Melissa Chesson Askew. Mr. Askew worked in Construction Crane Operation and was a retired member of the Boilermakers and Steamfitters Guild No. 687, Charleston, SC. He was an honest, decent, God loving man who read his Bible everyday.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Bowles Askew; four brothers, Warren Jasper Askew, Edwin Askew, Ramsey Askew and Dennis Askew; two sisters, Velma Askew Duffy and Mary Askew Duffy.

He is survived by his many nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00pm Sunday February 28, 2010 at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Phil Addison will officiate. Burial will follow in the Stony Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1:00-3:00pm prior to the service.

The family would like to thank Shelby Manor, White Oak Manor and Cleveland Hospice for their professional care and personal concern for Bill. Their Aid and assistance in aided living and nursing care meant a lot to Bill’s family in seeing him through these past few years.
